Expedition Muchimuk - About the film

Our decision to make another expedition to the northern side of the Churi-tepui that we had already visited in January of this same year, was triggered mainly to the threat that a foreign group of speleologist that seemed to work as some "paparazzi" or "wheel suckers", as we term those cyclist that lean to the rear of the leaders to save the energy. Nevertheless and due to recent letters that show that they where not completely guilty of this strange behavior; these foreign speleologist of high rank that came to explore a cave in the place we had been working continuously in the last five years and thus, where initially considered by us as some kind of speleological piracy at least.

Po úspechoch na Roraime a Kukename nás to však stále ťahalo na ťažko prístupnú stolovú horu Chimantá. Naše rozhodnutie urýchlilo, keď sme sa dozvedeli, že pilot vrtulníku prezradil Talianom, kde sme mali vytypované nové lokality v panenských častiach hory. Bolo nutné naše výskumy a plány dokončiť a tak sme sa v období dažďov ocitli na Chimante znova. Naše tušenia sa potvrdili. Našli sme stopy Talianov, ale našu víziu na hore neodhalili. V piatok dňa 29.5.2009, na základe genetických indícií, presekaním sa cez džungľu, zdolaním jednej z priepasti objavila skupina Šmída s Griflíkom dve úzke šachty, hlboké asi 18 m, s intenzívnym prievanom. V tom momente ešte chýbalo k spusteniu dlhšie lano. Vtedy ani oni neverili, že tam bude tak ohromná jaskyňa... Hora sa však otvorila a pripravila ešte viac otáznikov. Na znak úcty k priateľovi Charlesovi Brewerovi, ktorý nad nami drží vo Venezuele ochrannú ruku, som urobil krátke video a dal som mu názov po novoobjavenej jaskyne Muchimuk:
