Buddhist Ladakh - About the film
„As soon as steely birds start to fly the sky, when horses will travel on wheels, then there will be the time when Buddhism will spread over to the western countries“, Tibetan wizard and sacred man Padmasambawa foresaw in the eight century. Those were cars and airplanes that indeed accessed the impregnated and isolated country of monks living in numerous monasteries, Ladakh, many centuries later. In this former kingdom that is located on the edge of the Tibetan plateau and guarded by high ridges of Himalayas and Karakoram, there was revealed a unique cultural and religious heritage of the world. However, cars and airplanes keep bringing the western progress and materialism here that means a deadly threat to this country, its ancient traditions and secrets about hidden powers of human soul and the highest knowledge. It depends on mankind now whether these treasures will vanish forever, or they will become a spiritual property of a future higher civilization.
