The jury of the 2nd UMFF - Ulju Mountain Film Festival unanimously gives the Grand Prize to the beautiful Freedom under Load by Pavol Barabáš. This film shows love, freedom and independence, subtlety, and delicacy. This year, we are proud to announce 30 films selected out of 260 films from 31 countries, which marks an increase in the number of submissions compared to the previous year's total of 183.
The characters of this special film Freedom under Load impress us with their physical strength, and most of all, with their courage in making their choices.
By showing the extremely hard work of porters in Slovakia´s Tatra Mountains, the director of the film brings us into the world of sensitive people who love mountains more than anyone else.
This extraordinary film gives viewers harmony and peace, so needed in our loud, chaotic world.
The director, in a perfect way, uses film tools to create a film which is a tribute from human beings to the mountains.
The music, the cinematography, the editing not only collaborate with telling the story but also place the story on a level that is impossible to describe.
The film Freedom under Load manages to take us closer to the profound secret of the mountains.
