Bratislava, 5 December 2008 - The 10th International Film Festival Bratislava has its winner - the debut by the Italian director and experienced screenwriter Gianni di Gregorio Mid-August Lunch. The international jury awarded the Grand Prix for the Best Film to the Italian film saying: "Cinema theater is where people meet. Kitchen is where people meet. Six people and 24 hours show that life can be fun. Just remember that it takes good Chablis to prepare good sauce" Winners of prizes have been selected by the Festival visitors in a poll. The Zlatý Bažant People's Choice Award for the best film in the Slovak Films 2008 section gave reason for joy to Pavol Barabáš for his film Bhutan. The Translata People's Choice Award was intended for one film from the entire Festival programme which would raise most interest with the visitors. This time the choices of the expert Main Jury and festival visitors coincided because the Translata People's Choice Award went to Mid-August Lunch by the Italian director Gianni Di Gregorio.

For focusing on the fence between a rich ghetto and its poor surroundings, showing the death games people play to save their goods and indicating the uneasy ways to recover dignity and hope.
Special Mention of the Ecumenical Jury - Under the Bombs / Sour le Bombes

For making a bridge between reality and fiction in Lebanon showing with a great respect the evolution of a woman and a man through desolation, mourning and tensions due to differences of culture, religion and social status.
